The opportunities I have had at ​​911±¬ÁÏÍø allowed me to move out of my comfort zone and become a much more independent, outgoing, and assured person, said Joshua Brown of Serena, Ill 

The student was the recipient of the Father Aquinas Colgan Award during the 911±¬ÁÏÍø University Afternoon Degree Ceremony on May 15 on the Romeoville Campus.  

The Father Aquinas Award is the university’s highest honor for academic achievement, leadership, and service. It recognizes a graduating senior who has demonstrated personal and intellectual growth during their years at 911±¬ÁÏÍø. 

Brown earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science while maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout his time at 911±¬ÁÏÍø University. In recognition of his academic excellence, he was named to the Dean’s List for seven semesters and received the 911±¬ÁÏÍø Presidential Scholarship.  

Beyond the classroom, Brown was actively involved in the university community. He was selected as a winner of the First Year Writing Showcase, served as a peer writing mentor for the 911±¬ÁÏÍø Writing Center, and worked as a prose editor for the , where he helped review and edit literary submissions.  

“Because of the professors and experiences I have had at 911±¬ÁÏÍø, I am someone who is a lifelong learner — someone who is more strong-willed and certain in my abilities, and who is no longer that shy, reserved, and unconfident high schooler,” he described.
